Mac Miller's album hit 25k preorders today so he dropped this song, super sick. Another reason why Big Jerm is the best producer in the game today.
Not sure where to download yet, try Googling it.
Download available on iTunes
Sick new Wiz and Drake song with production from some new dude who sounds like Clams Casino. Fine by me
Download here:
And finally this dude Kid Ink is starting to make some noise. Kinda copping Wiz's style a little bit but he's good. Steadily improving, should be going places. His new mixtape is worth a listen
I've been listening to KRIT for a minute now, but kinda slept on his last mixtape. After giving it a twice-over, it's definitely bomb and worth the download.
So finally after a 2 month hiatus I'm back on my blog shit. Decided to break down the posts song by song or artist by artist so that the main page doesn't take forever to load anymore. Up first is Rich Hil. Lots of people hate him for many reasons, his voice being one of them, but I fucking love the dude. It took me a while to get past the whiny-ness of his voice, but now that I have I've found so much bomb music by him. He puts out new shit almost weekly, lots of it is garbage but if you sift through it all there are some real gems.
Holy shit I haven't updated this thing in forever. I have boogles of music to boggle your mind. Without further ado:
Wiz, Curren$y and Big Sean have a mixtape in the works. They gave us 4 songs to peek at, this one is by far the best. Also check out Flowers if you get a chance. I'll post the whole mixtape once it drops.
Now I love Tyga's flow and style and lyrically he's usually pretty legit, but he chooses some super suspect beats (in a bad way). As far as I'm concerned he'll probably always be a mixtape rapper, but he kills other people's beats.
Download mixtape here:
Don't know too much about this dude ASAP Rocky yet except that he reps Harlem and his flow is hazed out and I really dig it. What I DO know is that Clams Casino (who produced this) is one on the up-and-up right now. He did Lil B's Motivation and I'm God and has released two instrumental EPs that are sick too. Keep your ears open for him
And this dude Pictureplane is out of Denver. He has a shitload of talent, I download his Dark Rift album on iTunes and I like it a lot. Good background/working music.
An aptly named title for today's posting, cuz it's been over 2 weeks since my last update. I have a bunch of shit on deck but only putting out the fo sho good ones right now, maybe more later today or tomorrow.
New Lil Wayne mixtape dropped, with him going over other beats a la No Ceilings. Everytime I start to doubt wayne's lyrical ability/give up on him, he drops a mixtape and kills it. This one isn't quite No Ceilings, but its a lot better than John.
Download mixtape here:
And some new Chevy Woods for you, who's really starting to impress me not necessarily with his lyrics or flow, but with his choice of songs. Dude has some talent.
And a Drake remix of the SBTRKT song I put up a while back. Drake is winning me back over as much as I hate to admit it. Corny, but he makes some sick shit.
New Dom Kennedy album dropped Tuesday and I've been anxiously awaiting. Good summertime album to ride around to. Support for only 6.99 on iTunes or find it illegally somewhere, whatever.
Dope older song from Ghostland Observatory. I might be a little late to the party on this one but had to share regardless. I wasn't able to find an illegal/free way to download it so you'll have to purchase off iTunes.
Cyhi is signed to G.O.O.D. music, Kanye's label. He's pretty much the truth. Lyrics are sick, flow is sick, beats are sick. Can't wait to see what his official debut sounds like. No time for samples just let the mixtape ride out.
I've been waiting for this for quite some time, the new Chiddy Bang mixtape entitled Peanut Butter and Swelly. Only about halfway through the mixtape but it's already more than download-worthy. Don't judge it by the songs I post up, the whole thing is quite diverse. Check it.
So I had always thought Lil B sounded like a retard when he rapped. A few songs were catchy, but he was godawful. Well, it seems as though he rapped like that to attract a bunch of attention, and then actually started rapping for real. Lyrically he's not incredible, and sometimes shit doesn't rhyme, but I'm thoroughly impressed. Give this mixtape a listen and see what's good.
Up today is a mixtape from Sir Michael Rocks, aka Mikey Rocks from the Cool Kidz. Everything about this dude is unique and he grows on me with every listen.

I got more shit up my sleeve but I'm lazy and wanna play more LA Noire. So you'll just have to wait.
Got two artists this week for you to slob on. A lot of you have probably heard about OFWGKTA (aka Odd Future aka Golf Wang), and their leading member Tyler, the Creator. I personally think Tyler is awful (unique perhaps, but his album Goblin sounds like Tom Waits rapping over schizo beats that sound like they're stuck in a tar pit).
That being said, Odd Future still has some sick members, namely Frank Ocean. I hate making comparisons because mine usually end up sounding super corny, but he's modified R&B with badass lyrics (Listen to Novacane's lyrics: "Sinks full of dishes, pacing in the kitchen, cocaine for breakfast..yikes!") and genre-bending beats. His whole mixtape is sick, might take a listen or two but if you have taste you should get it.

And now we have Neako. He's been an affiliate of Wiz's for a long time now. He's not the best rapper lyrically, but his flow is on point and he chooses some phenomenal beats. He has a shitload of mixtapes that I'm slowly working my way through but so far Loud Pack Tree has been my favorite. . Plenty good songs on the mixtape, check it.

Aaaand finally Rich Boy (Throw Some D's) released a new mixtape. Is nothing special but this song is sick, he re-does Slow by Twin Shadow and it works. Rest of the mixtape is meh.
You know YG but you don't know him. He's the dude that did Toot It and Boot It (ohhhh yeaaahhh I remember now). Just put out his first full length mixtape, and it's pretty simpleton. It's a fun party mixtape I suppose, and there are a few listeners, but this is the only standout track.
Haven't heard a good song out of Nickatina probably since he got on Jacka's Glamorous Lifestyle a couple of years ago (and killed it). A few months ago they put a CD out together and I just got around to listening to it. Looks like I've been sleeping. Oops. And no download link for this one because I like supporting the underdog. CD is available on iTunes or you can probably download it for free somewhere if you're a dick.
This dude Kendrick Lamar is out of LA and he's causing quite a stir. His flow is unpredictable and his gruffy voice rides beats nicely.
Asher Roth is someone who got written off because he went from spitting such intelligent stuff on his mixtapes, then dropped his commercial album with some of the least intelligent stuff I've ever heard (still catchy though). Well this is what happens when Asher Roth actually tries hard: he fucking murders it. Enjoy this song, the EP is sick as well, as is the video.

Got more shit to listen to. Will update again soon.
Both of those songs are off the new Equipto and Mike Marshall CD available on itunes. Couldn't find a download link but they're worth supporting anyways, and the song is worth 99 cents.
Chevy Woods' last mixtape was nothing special, but perhaps with the right production he has some potential. Wiz's talk-verse at the end is actually pretty fresh.
Here's one of two outtakes from Rolling Papers that Wiz let loose yesterday. Not the best, but better than at least half of that album. The other song isn't worth the time in my opinion. More updates later today.
Oh, and just when I thought Wiz's hair couldn't get any gayer.......
Sorry for the nearly month long delay. In all honesty it's been a pretty weak month as far as blogworthy singles go. However, discovered a few new artists.
The Weeknd is a new artist that I've come across. Might not appeal to a lot of you, but this dude is super talented. Really hard to describe this guy's sound. I suppose it's what Drake wishes he sounded like when he sings, with sweet lyrics, mellowed out electronic/dubstepish I don't fucking know. Just listen to it, give it at least two listens before you write it off.
And it's great to see Chiddy Bang bridging the gap to Mac Miller's group of rappers (Wiz, Smoke Dza, Curren$y, etc.). Hopefully we'll see more of these two camps making great music.
Listened to this mixtape a few times over the weekend and enjoyed it tremendously. One of the more consistent mixtapes I've heard in a while. Awesome beats, a few catchy lines, and a flow that doesn't sound like an 18 year old white kid. Perfect in time for summer (summer starts in March in Southern California in case you didn't know). Mixtape download is at the bottom.
Dom Kennedy's new mixtape dropped about an hour ago. Haven't had a chance to listen. Bout to hop on a paper plane on this fine day and see what's cracking with this mixtape. Should be fire.
No real cohesion to the music today. Went on a listening rampage yesterday, but didn't come up with too much rap. Not even sure how I'd categorize some of this music. Lots of chill summertime music (it's 78 and sunny in Santa Monica in case you didn't know). Maybe you'll like, maybe you'll think I'm a homo for liking it. Don't really care. Have fun.
Old school shit that still bumps but is impossible to find for download. You have to find the old Dj Pooh CD Bad Newz Travels Fast if you want it for your own collection.
Oh yeah got a leaked version of new Lupe Fiasco album Lasers and it's pretty fucking good (official album dropped today). Here's perhaps my favorite song off of said album, but I can't find any download links for this song. You might just have to pony up and buy it off iTunes
So my laptop took a full glass of water to the keyboard last week, and using PCs frustrates the shit out of me, so I'd been waiting until my comp gets back before I updated. BUT, with Wiz dropping a new old-school style song today, and too many jams piled up, I gotta make an entry on this ol' PC. So without further ado,
And finally, we have the Blvck Diamond Life mixtape from Droop-E. Droop is E-40's son and has been on the Bay Area underground scene for a minute. While his past music was geared more towards the hyphy movement, he seems to have matured a lot on this album. Sade samples, instrumentals, etc. It's short, it's different, and it's pretty fucking legit. Download link after the two vids. Enjoy.
Wiz just dropped a surprise mixtape that nobody knew about a few hours ago. Wiz is always better when he doesn't have "the man" telling him what songs to make. Hallelujah. Download at the bottom.
Mac Miller's new mixtape drops on March 11th and I hope it'll be as good as KIDS. Here's the first 'single' off the new mixtape. Download link after the song.
Damn Game used to be so sick. Then he split with 50 and got all pissed off and repped Black Wall Street and made bad, East Coast sounding music (which is fine, just not for Game). But he's back. This mixtape sounds and feels like West Coast, and its legit. A double disc with not that much filler either, I'm impressed. Keep it coming Game. Download link is at the bottom.
I really can't get over how stoked I am on Dom Kennedy.
Dom Kennedy is another sick rapper out of Venice that is starting to make some noise. Between him, King Fantastic and Nipsey Hussle, West LA is really holding the rap scene down. He put out his mixtape From the Westside With Love this year, which was welcomed warmly by many hip-hop writers and reviewers. Even his 2009 mixtape Future Street/Drug Sounds (fucking awesome play on Timberlake's cd title) is worth going back and listening too. Just his voice, the way he flows, and his clever wordplay have got me hooked.
Download links for two of his mixtapes are at the bottom of the post.
Damn I need a job as a talent scout for a record label badly.
Bishop Lamont has been on the underground Cali rap circuit for quite some time. He's released countless mixtapes and worked with Snoop, Dre, Dogg Pound, etc. He sounds a lot like 50 Cent, but obviously he's way better cuz he's from California. If you need proof that this mixtape is sick, it was put out (for free) by Aftermath records. Seeing as how they put out like one or two albums a year, you know it's good.
I know I'm late to the party on this band but they are chill as fuck and super different. It's actually not a 'they' though, it's a 'he' so when your friends start liking this band too you can make fun of them for referencing the band incorrectly (i.e. "dude, I love bassnectar, they're sick") I look forward to sipping beers to this on the roof come summertime. Check out his whole album whole album Causers of This.
