Nipsey Hussle's marathon

I first heard Nipsey about 3 years ago and really wanted to like him.  He had a sound and flow like Snoop did on the original Chronic: a nasally voice that rode the beat like butter and spoke of California G-shit.  Since I started listening, Nipsey has continued to get better and better both lyrically and musically.  Literally each mixtape he dropped was more and more listenable and every guest verse he had he went harder and harder.  Which culminates in the Marathon, Nipsey's mixtape that dropped yesterday.  I've only listened to the first half so far and it's already super Splosive.  So without further ado, allow me to introduce probably the last great mixtape of 2010.

Have a creamy Christmas,

Tyga

I went back and forth on Tyga for quite some time.  His first single a few years ago was a corny party song with Travis McCoy so I immediately wrote him off.  Then I heard he signed with Young Money and I was interested again.  After listening to two of his mixtapes (neither of which did anything for me), I decided that he's one of those rappers who's flow I like, but his songs are lackluster.  Which is why this mixtape is awesome.  It's simply Tyga going super hard of a bunch of popular beats.  And he kills it. Some other shit

No musical cohesion on this post today really, just a few sweet songs that I have recently discovered.  Enjoy.

N.E.R.D. & Daft Punk - Hypnotize U (Nero remix)

I thought that every single way to remix Sleepyhead had been done, but this one proved otherwise

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Le Chev remix)

And finally a nice little dubstep remix

Deadmau5 and Kaskade - I Remember (Caspa remix)

Boom.

Curren$y

Curren$y is one of those rappers that people either love or hate.  He has a super lazy flow that sometimes doesn't even attempt to ride the beat.  But he's creative as can be and a lot of his punchlines are so far out they make you chuckle.  Sometimes he just lists off a series of things that end up making sense ("Hang time, hang glide, stir-fried, chinky-eyed, Shanghai").  He just released his new album Pilot Talk 2 and it's definitely my favorite Spitta album so far, it has the feel of an older Devin the Dude cd.  Unfortunately there is no free download for this album but it's worth the $9.99 on iTunes fo sho.

Curren$y - Airborne Aquarium

French Montana feat. Curren$y - So High

Smoke one to some Curren$y for me.

Underworld

This song might not appeal to all of you, but I love it.  And the video is even more badass, just a couple of old dudes tearin shit up.

SHIT youtube won't let me embed that for some lame reason, but click the link, it's worth it for the video.

Chris Webby is a douche

you can tell after 5 seconds of watching the intro to this video.  BUT this song is actually sick.  This queerbait is getting a fucking henna tattoo across his stomach in the video.  Real hard dude.  At least you made one good song.  ESAD.

Detox leak

Dr Dre's Detox album is hands down the most highly anticipated hip-hop album of all time.  More than 10 years now in the making, a lot of people had given up hope that the album would ever be released.  Which is why it's a huge relief to see that some of the songs off of Detox are starting to leak, and Eminem and some other people have said they are currently working on the album right now.  So, without further adieu, here's the latest leak off Detox and it's fucking sick.

Well it looks like YouTube has already caught on, and within a few hours have removed all of the audio from the videos for this song.  But it's Dr Dre so just fucking download it.

Here's the direct download link (at least until Dre's record company finds it and removes it)

Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg and Akon

EDIT: the song has been taken off that site and is basically impossible to find now.  If you want it email me at MacGCU@gmail.com and I send.  If you find another place that has it for download please let me know.

J Cole - Friday Night Lights

J. Cole finally dropped the follow-up to his mind-blowing mixtape The Warm Up.  I've listened to it all the way through once, and it's another phenomenal album.  J. Cole is leaps and bounds above the average mainstream rapper lyrically, and he makes great music.  It's hard to find any rap albums that are this listenable from beginning to end.  Every single song has lines that awe me and Jermaine never fails to impress so don't sleep on him.  Enjoy this one.

Vagina

Royce da 5'9 song off his new mixtape the BAR Exam 3.  The song samples this white joke rapper named Jon Lajoie (you might be familiar with his smash hit Show Me Your Genitals).  The song is somewhat of a novelty but it's catchy enough to warrant repeat listenings.  And I never get mad when DMX yells "WHAT?!?" in a song

New Wiz and Curren$y

Wiz and Curren$y put out a new single together. Apparently they nicknamed themselves the Highnamic Duo. Their first mixtape together "How Fly" was really sick if you missed it a while back. Hopefully they'll be putting out another one soon. Here's the new song and a download link for their mixtape from a few years back in case you don't have.

Mann - Buzzin

So I'm on my way out the door right now and haven't had time to do much new music finding this week, but the good Doctor laced me with this little ditty.  I've been waiting for someone to sample this beat for a long time and Mann treats it nicely.  Perhaps a little too radio/party-ish but I smell it.  As far as Mann, all I know is he's from West LA.  Good enough for me.

Westcoastbeachbumsynthesizerbeachbumgangstermusic

Sorry for the delay, last week was pretty splosive.

Now I know that a few weeks back I touched on King Fantastic and their remakes of Bass Head by Bassnectar and Because by The Bird and the Bee.  I have given their EP several thorough listens and they are even better than I originally thought.  Killa Reese One spits clever verses, though you're not going to find level of depth found in one of J Cole's verses.

So I strongly, strongly urge you to download this EP.  It's free and it's awesome and you can download it below.  Just click the "Get It" button on the picture.

Trust me on this one.

King Fantastic - Finger Snaps and Gun Claps

Here's a song and video from the album.  The video is pretty badass.

California Sunrise

Just stumbled upon this gem.  This song and video do 3 things for me.  1. Make me stoked on living in California, particularly near the beach  2.  Make me sad that summer is over and 3. Make me want to surf a lot more next year.  Either way, it's a chill, relaxing song and the video suits the song perfectly.

Zion I is back

I found out yesterday that Zion I is putting out another album first week of November.  I pre-ordered the album yesterday and got a few early singles.  This first one Many Stylez is so so so sick.  It's with Rebelution, a reggae group I've been hearing more and more about.  Zion I has always been a little bit more progressive than the rest and it's good to see them pushing their boundaries.  It's a risky play in the rap game, but in this case it works out phenomenally.

Beatles, meh

I don't particularly like the Beatles.  Now don't go chastising me for having a music blog but not liking the "greatest band of all time".  I respect and appreciate everything that the Beatles did for the progression of music, but I can honestly say I get little-to-no pleasure out of listening to them.  That being said, this is an exception.  A nice, simple remix of one of the few Beatles songs I like.  Shouts to Christ Man for showing me this shit.

K-OS: What Will.i.am would sound like if he didn't suck ass

Happy Friday.  Not in a mood for lots of typing today, but I will say that K-OS (pronounced like 'chaos') doesn't sound like a whole lot of other rappers/songwriters out there, although he looks exactly like Will.i.am except less homo.  He has a sing-song style of rap and funky beats.  That's all I want to type.

Lots of New Music

Good Afternoon,

I just sat down at my laptop to check a few things and listen to a little music, next thing I know 2 1/2 hours have gone by and I have like 40 new songs.  Since we're about quality over quantity here, I'll just post a few that I know right off the bat are good.  Some of the others I want to listen to a few times before I vouch for them and put them up here.  Sometimes I take a hash rip or two and a new song sounds amazing, so I post it, then two hours later when I'm not retardedly high it's actually a pretty shitty song.

Another Kid Cudi leak off Man on the Moon 2: Legend of Mr. Rager.  Came out a little bit ago but it's new to me.  So far from what I've heard it's shaping up to be quite the sick batch of songs, although I'm not that fond of his current radio song Erase Me.  Hard to find it in good quality on youtube, but you can download good versions just by googling it.

Kid Cudi feat. Snoop Dogg - I Do My Thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7Jz4W-n9Aw

So I had heard about Diggy Simmons, the middle child from Run's House, starting a rap career and shit.  I even checked out his blog earlier this year and it was retarded (everyone knows that only a total douche starts their own blog).  And when he was in the top 5 running for new rap artist of the year on MTV Jams (which Wiz ended up winning), I thought that he must've played people to click the "vote" button for him all day.  But, and I can hardly believe these words are coming out of my mouth, the little dude actually has a good flow and above-average lyricism.  Shits all over his assclown brother Jojo and his faggy group Team Blackout.  Listen for yourself, Diggy has the third verse.  And Pharrell kills it too (by Pharrell standards).

Diggy Simmons feat. Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell - Oh Yeah
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSpshnZRFaI

Here's a dubstep track for the day, more of a mainstream, vocally oriented dubstep song (since it's a remix)

Plan B - The Recluse (Nero remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPguBm8QFuw

Last song for today is a Crystal Castles song that I downloaded a few months ago and somehow completely forgot about.  Might not be too new but it's still a great tune.

And finally, a perfect example of your typical female's driving skills.  The subtitles are the best part.

Hope you enjoy, more coming tomorrow

King Fantastic

King Fantastic is comprised of a rapper and a producer and they're out of Venice.  Haven't had a chance to check out their whole mixtape yet but I've heard a couple of their remixes and they're quality.  Bass Head is already one of my favorite dubstep songs and they manage to make it even better.  Probably my favorite workout song right now too.

Their website is here:

Go and download their version of Because by The Bird and the Bee.  Also really sick.  Make sure to keep an eye out for King Fantastic in the next year.

Nasty Breakup with Weeds

Sorry, but I just need to get this off my chest.  Weeds sucks.  Like real hard.  I used to love it, the first few seasons were marvelous and funny and I actually gave a shit what happened in the next episode.  They all ended with awesome cliffhangers.  There were times when I loved the show so much that I probably would've curb-stomped a gypsy just to see the next episode right then and there and not have to wait a week (especially if it's a Turkish gypsy, they're the worst)

Last season was pretty wack but this season is downright preposterous.  Take for example the second (I think) episode this season.  At the end of the episode, Nancy and Andy are walking out of their weed dealer's house with a trash bag full of weed trimmings (to make hash with).  As soon as they get outside, two police officers are waiting, as the van Nancy is driving (the only one parked on the entire street) has been reported stolen and has thousands of dollars worth of tickets, as well as the wrong license plate.  As the police glare and radio the stolen car in, we see Nancy and Andy scared shitless.  Roll credits.  Great cliffhanger ending right?

WRONG.

Wanna know what they do to get out of it?  They fumble and bumble around, make up some half-assed story about how they actually live there and it's not their van, then pretend they were taking their trash bag full of weed out to the dumpster to throw it away, then put it in the wrong trash can (recycling), etc.  Yet somehow, the two completely inept cops don't ask for ID, don't talk to the people that actually live there, nothing.  Nancy and Andy just walk away and that's the last we hear of it.

This is just one example.  This shit is happening in every episode now and it's ridiculous.  Sure, I haven't seen the 5th season of Lost or any of that bullshit (I hear it's absurd), but Weeds used to be funny and realistic and awesome.  It's sad that our relationship has come to an end.  It's even sadder that this isn't a happy, let's-still-be-friends breakup.  This is a get-pissed-off, throw-her-clothes-on-the-street-and-put-her-beloved-chihuahua-Tinkerbell-in-the-oven-on-broil type breakup.

Frankly I'm offended that Showtime and Jenji Kohan think I'm stupid enough to not notice and keep watching.  I'd rather dry-heave for 26 minutes straight than encourage these assbags to keep making more television.  So FUCK YOU WEEDS, I'm out.

Tinie Tempah

This dude Tinie Tempah is out of England and his mainstream debut is actually pretty sick.  I'm usually not into the British rap scene (the Streets, Dizzee Rascal, etc.) but this dude brings something different.  More electro-style beats and an above-average flow.  If you ever heard Pass Out by Chiddy Bang, he actually did the (almost) identical original version.  His album still hasn't dropped in the states but leaks can be found around the internet.

Rainy Day in LA

Smoking to this song/video on a rainy day makes my life a lot better.

Smoke DZA - Continental Kush Breakfast

Getting to know Loads Amnesia

There are two contributing authors on Treme Sploded: Loads Amnesia and Dr. Sludge Muffin.  Our musical tastes are pretty similar, both of us leaning mostly towards rap and hip-hop.  Specifically, rap and hip hop that you hopefully haven't heard yet.

Dr. Muffin and I also have very unique and tasteless senses of humor.  If you get offended easily or don't like sarcasm, then I don't like you and you don't deserve this awesome blog and you can ESAD (eat shit and die, I like abbreviations)

Enough typing, this is what I listen to.

Wiz Khalifa
Yeah, I'm on Wiz Khalifa's dick.  Bad.  I said it.  There simply isn't another rapper who has put out as much consistently good music in the past year or two as Wiz.  Kid Cudi and Chiddy Bang are up there, but they put out probably half as much total music as Wiz does, with about the same percentage of it being really good.  If you get sick of me posting Wiz all the time, tough shit.  He's putting out new stuff almost weekly and if it's good it's getting posted.

Here are a few classic Wiz selections in case I've never forced you to listen to him before:

Ink My Whole Body

Furthermore, all of Wiz's mixtapes/albums can be downloaded here for free:
http://www.datpiff.com
I recommend you start with Kush and OJ and Flight School.

Rap/Hip-Hop
I listen to allllll types of rap music.  I try to stay away from the mainstream as much as possible (no Gucci Mane thanks), but if it's a good song then I could really give a fuck who it's by.  Some of my current favorite artists:

Chiddy Bang
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUk_fWK2Dqc

Kid Cudi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKD2EWLKcNU

J. Cole
This song Lights Please has some of the smartest, most original lyrics I've EVER heard in a rap song.  Jay-Z heard just this one song and insisted that J. Cole sign with Roc-a-fella.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dyPeGDeS3o
If you have the time, read the lyrics with it:
http://ohhla.com/anonymous/j_cole/warm_up/l_please.col.txt

I could go on for fortnights about all of the hip-hop that I love, so I'll just leave you with that.  Plenty more to come though don't worry.

Dubstep
This is one of the areas where mine and Dr. Muffin's tastes don't overlap.  You see, the good Dr. is about 10 years older than I am on the inside, thus dubstep is to him what rap music was to our parents, and it makes him cranky.  I, on the other hand, can't sit still when I listen to it.  It's like auditory meth, except I hate meth and I love dubstep.

Rusko - Hold On (Sub-Focus remix)

Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin (Grifta Dubstep remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGJxWOWpXpw

Mr. Hudson - Love Never Dies (over a Caspa beat)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPuaIJrhdss

Lounge/Electronica/House/Everythingelse
Relaxing shit.  Music that I can close my eyes and smoke to.

DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InFbBlpDTfQ

Thievery Corporation - Amerimacka
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCD99jMMuh0

Washed Out - Feel It All Around
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DkslcOhytU

I'm gonna try to put at least one song per day up on this blog, but it might not always happen.  This blog is about QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.  If I go a week without finding a song, then that's the way it is.  I'd rather have a week with no blog updates then start putting shitty music on my blog just because I feel I have to.  Also, every song I upload I have on my laptop, so if you really like something and can't find it anywhere else, let me know and I'll send it to you.  Unless this blog somehow gets really big, then you're on your own.  But it won't because I'm not that exciting.

Oh and this is the kind of humor I have:

Don't like?  Don't read.

Oh and shoutout to Alecs, the only emo-goth that I associate with.

Fuck that took forever to write.  I hope someone actually reads this shit.

Inside Joke

You probably won't understand this picture.  Or think it's funny.  You're not supposed to.  Don't worry about it.
